Obituary for Benjamin W. Olszewski (1942-2023)
Benjamin “Butchie” Walter Olszewski, age 80, of Harleysville, passed away at home on Thursday, January 19, 2023 with loving family members at his bedside. Born in Norristown, Benjamin was the son of the late Benjamin J. Olszewski and the late Lottie J. (nee Rojewski) Olszewski, the devoted husband of Anna Marie (nee Narwich) Olszewski, the loving father of Lisa Anne Balk (Leonard) of Lansdale, Jennifer Anne Pileggi (Frank) of Ambler and Lori Theresa Dawson (Partner, Michael David Konopski) of Hatfield, the proud Pop of Christopher A. Pileggi, Jillian N. Pileggi, David James Dawson, Jr., Ayden Christian Dawson, Benjamin Allen Dawson, Kahlan Marie Konopski and Adriana Helene Konopski, the beloved brother of the late Robert Olszewski (Lynne) of Norristown, the late Marie Howell and the late Sharon Araos, as well as the cherished uncle of Dr. Robert Olszewski, MD, Edwin Howell, Debbie Capps and Dana Araos.
Benjamin was a graduate of Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School, Class of 1961 and former member of Sacred Heart Church. He was also a member of their Holy Name Society, a 3rd Degree member of Bridgeport Council Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Member of Fr. Tomko Council Knights of Columbus, a firefighter with Swedesburg Volunteer Fire Company and played baseball for the Polonia Phillies in Swedesburg . He worked for many years as a truck loader at Fleming Foods, followed by his years at Clemens Foods in their meat department and was currently a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and Teamsters Local 500. He enjoyed listening, but not dancing, to Polka music, gardening outside, classic country music, Disney cruises and the Disney Food & Wine Festival, a good Old Fashioned cocktail, loved the color red and was known as a man who would help anyone in need, but, his real passion was being with his caring wife, loving daughters and all of his grandchildren! He will surely be missed!
Relatives and Friends are invited to Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 900 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, PA 19446 on Thursday, January 26, where Benjamin’s Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. and his Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
