Elizabeth S. Rigg passed away at Meadowood Senior Living on August 31, 2021
Shethra to all who knew her, was born in Hope Mills, North Carolina to her parents Clarence Jones and Jesse Edna Jones (Long). She was the eldest of three children. She moved to Pennsylvania to reside with her aunt and uncle to attend Millersville University, where she obtained a degree in Library Sciences. She was employed for most of her career as a public school librarian with the Colonial School District. While working at Colonial School District she went on to earn a master’s degree in Library Science. She resided in King of Prussia from the 1950’s through 2019.
Shethra loved to travel and was always up for an adventure. She especially loved the out of doors and supported organizations with missions that preserved open space and celebrated nature. She was a member of the Valley Forge Audubon Society and with her husband Harrison, organized the successful bird seed sale fundraiser that took place for many years. She led multiple maintenance efforts for both the Appalachian and Horseshoe Trails. In addition, to the work trips, there were hundreds of recreational hikes that she led over the years with a variety of groups.
She was predeceased by her brother Wilbert “Bill” Jones, former husband Donald Lee, and her husband Edward Harrison Rigg. She is survived by her daughters, Beth Lee and Peggy Lee-Clark (Max), grandson, Sean C. Kupper and sister, Jackie O’Kelley. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Gary Rigg (Deana), Sarah Funkhouser, and David Rigg (Hallie).
Friends and family are invited - In celebration of Shethra’s Life and her love of ice cream, a memorial ice cream social will take place on Sunday, October 17th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sunnybrook Ballroom in Pottstown, PA
Internment is private.
