Obituary for Eugene M. Cowley (1956-2022)
Eugene Michael Cowley, known by all as Michael or Mike, passed away at his home in King of Prussia on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. Born in Philadelphia, Mike was the son of the late Eugene and the late Ann (nee O’Rourke) Cowley, the beloved brother of James (Roberta) Cowley of Round Hill, VA, John (Kathleen) Cowley of King of Prussia, Barbara (Alan) Lontz of Collegeville and the late Ann Marie (Kazimer) Zielinski, the cherished Godfather of James P. Cowley and Timothy Lontz and the proud Uncle of his 9 nieces and nephews and his 13 grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Mike was a graduate of Archbishop John Carroll High School, Class of 1974 and went on to a long career with Acme Markets, retiring as a manager after over 40 years. He was a devout member of Mother of Divine Providence Church for many years, an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan as well as a huge New York Yankees fan. Friends knew him as an “old soul” who loved classic movies and enjoyed going out to dinner. When Mike wasn’t at work, he spent tireless hours, for many years, taking care of his parents as they aged. He enjoyed his get away trips, from weekends in Cape May to multiple trips to Ireland. He also spent free time searching his family genealogy, going hunting and spending quiet time in his garden beds.
Relatives and Friends are invited on Saturday, May 28, to Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Road, King of Prussia, PA 19406, where the family will greet guests beginning at 9 a.m. followed by his Funeral Mass starting at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery. The family would appreciate memorial donations to Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011, 800-272-3900. Arrangements are by The Bernard S.
