Obituary for Gene W. Nailon, Sr. (1956-2022)

Gene Wayne Nailon, Sr., age 65, of Norristown, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 23, 2022. Born in Norristown, Wayne, as he was known, was the son of the late Robert Nailon and the late Elizabeth (nee White) Nailon, the devoted husband of Linda (nee Briggman) Nailon since April 11, 1992, the loving father of Mark (JoAnn) Baker, Sr. of Pottstown, Megan McGrory Nailon of Bridgeport and Gene W. (Maylin) Nailon, Jr. of Naples, FL, the adoring grandfather of Kaleigh Baker of Middleton, NJ, Mark Baker, Jr. and Amelia Baker, both of Pottstown and the beloved brother of Dennise (the late Anthony) Campeggio of Boyertown, Michael (Cathy) Nailon of Pottstown, Brad Nailon of York and the late David Nailon.

Wayne was a graduate of Pottsgrove Senior High School, Class of 1974, a former member of St. Patrick’s Church and worked as a truck driver for 10 years at Duff Supply Company and then another 5 years for Contract Cleaners Supply Inc., until his retirement in 2010. He was also a long time member of Washington Fire Company #1, “Washies”, where in 1986 he was named Rookie of the Year and received the Billy Robert Award, a charter member of Eagles Home Association in Norristown and the former State Past President of The Fraternal Order of Orioles. In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed cruising and traveling to Mexico, Punta Cana and other Carribean locations, reading a good book, visiting the casinos and spending time with his family and friends.

Murphy, F.D., www.gutkowskifuneralhome.com, on Friday, July 1, where Wayne’s family will greet guests starting at 10 a.m., followed by his Memorial Service starting at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date.
