Gloria Mastrocola Obituary

Always loving angels, Gloria Jean "Jeanie” (Bernstiel) Mastrocola became our angel on December 28, 2023 in East Norriton, PA. She was 88 years old.

Born on March 8, 1935 in Swedesburg, PA, she was the daughter of William and Stella (Rotay) Bernstiel. Jeanie always did what was needed of her, but, make no mistake, she never let anyone tell her what to do. If you listen to her stories about her childhood, she had a great deal of responsibility, but once done, she would dance the night away with her girlfriends until it was time for them to sip coffee at the diner as the sun rose, and her obligations resumed. She was a beautiful force.

Jeanie and her great love Gasper A. “Doc” Mastrocola married on November 12, 1955. The definition of love was watching them dance together from slow dancing to jitterbugging any chance they could. They shared four children, 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Jeanie was everyone’s “Mommom.” Once you met her, she took care of you. And while she was fiery and independent, Jeanie’s fierce love was not necessarily in words but in her action and service. It was having iced tea ready on the counter and Doublemint gum in the cabinet every time her grandchildren played at her house. As they grew, it was kissing their cheeks and secretly slipping a $20 in their hands for their gas money at each visit. But most importantly, it was instilling in her family the need for togetherness and the value of tradition with seven fishes at Christmas Eve; her potato salad and egg hunts at Easter; weekends at the shore; and her strawberry cheese pie for any special family event. It was in every phone call that she answered with “Hiya, Sweetheart” and every greeting card signed “With All My Love.” It was in the countless moments and ways that her family will always miss her.

Jeanie loved music, dancing, reading, playing cards, and praying. She was a woman of devout faith, and her Catholic religion comforted her during difficult times in her life. It reminds her family that, even in their sadness of losing her, they will see her again.

Pre-deceased by her husband; son, Mark A. Mastrocola; and grandson, Maxwell D. Pasquarello, 2 Brothers: George and Edward Bernsteil and a sister Eleanor Howinski. Gloria Jean is survived by her loyal brother, William Bernstiel; three children Lynn (Andrew) Jackson, Sharon (Jac) Frech, and Todd Mastrocola, Sr.; and her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. And for those who remain, they give "All Their Love” to you, Gloria Jean Mastrocola.
