Obituary for Irene B. Smondrowski (1933-2023)
Irene Barabara Smondrowski (nee Dyrcz) passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 13, 2023, after a brief illness, with family at her side. Irene was 89 years old. Born November 18, 1933 in Phoenixville, Pa. She was a lifelong resident of King of Prussia, Pa. Irene was the daughter of the late William and Nellie (nee Novak) Dyrcz and the wife of the late Stanley Smondrowski. Irene was preceded in death by her daughters Sally Smondrowski and Barbara Clayborne. Sister, Helen (Walter) Twarogowski and brother, Frank (Mary) Dyrcz.
Irene is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Carol (Scott Dittus) Ranieri with whom she lived with for the past 2 yrs in East Norriton. Four grandchildren: Tracy Spesak of Wrightsville, Pa., Joseph Roncace (Jennifer) of Coatesville, Vincent Roncace (Casey) of West Norriton and Laura Ashley Ranieri of East Norriton. Four great-grandchildren: Nolan and Wyatt Roncace, Stanley Issac and Alan Roncace. A dear nephew, Walter Twarogowski of Broadheadsville, Pa.
Irene was a dedicated member of Sacred Heart Church, Swedesburg, Pa. She had many fond memories of riding the KOP Rambler to the Mall with her church friends for coffee several times a week. Irene enjoyed going on shopping excursions to Boscov’s and to lunch with her daughter. While at her home she was an avid flower gardener and she was most proud of her bulb display each spring. She enjoyed walks in her neighborhood. She enjoyed reading and watching the Hallmark Channel, family often joked that she only had one tv channel. Irene was proud of her Polish heritage, making many of the Polish specialties at holidays. She looked forward to her visits from her grandchildren. Irene was also an avid Eagles fan and wore her lucky shirt for game days.
Relatives and friends are invited on Friday, April 21 to Sacred Heart Church, 120 Jefferson Street, Swedesburg, Pa., 19405, where Irene’s viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:20 a.m. and her Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery at a later date, to be announced.
