James Dolga Obituary

Obituary for James A. Dolga, Jr. (1953-2020)

James A. Dolga, Jr, age 66, of Swedesburg, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, April 3, 2020. Born in Norristown, Jim was the son of the late James A. Dolga, Sr. and the late Doris L. (nee Morris) Dolga, the devoted husband since 1984 of Therese (nee Leszczynski) Dolga, the proud father of Scott, Ryan and Casey Dolga and the cherished brother of Dave A. (Karen) Dolga, Sr. of King of Prussia and Doris L. Doheny of Swedeland.

Jimmy attended Upper Merion High School and also studied at Montgomery County Community College. He recently retired from DePaul Trucking and was filling his days driving a school bus part time for Upper Merion School District.  Jimmy was a life member of two local fire companies.  At Swedesburg Volunteer Fire Co he has served as a Board of Director and in 1987 was the recipient of the Firefighter of The Year Award.  At Good Will Volunteer Fire Co he was a former trustee, bar steward and in 2013 was the recipient of the Presidents Award and Fellowship Award.  Jimmy was best known as the infamous Saturday night bartender at Goodwill where he could be found pouring the “coldest beer in town”, telling a joke or showing off his amazing card tricks. Jimmy was quick to jump into any kind of competition and loved to remind you that he holds TWO Gold Medals in Bar Olympics and has won multiple Dart League Championships playing in both Conshohocken and Norristown Maennerchor Club Dart Leagues. Jimmy served as past President of Bridgeport Little League and forged the committee that ultimately was responsible for the lighting up the fields at Bridgeport Park.  He coached all three of his children through the years, Ryan and Scotty Bridgeport Little League, Casey Upper Merion Girls Softball as well as CYO Boys & Girls Basketball.  Lately, he could be found watching Ryan’s traveling softball team either on the field locally or via live feed for out of state games.   He enjoyed playing Bocce Ball, Sunday night Bridgeport league with his family, golfing with his boys and brother-in-law Mark and was an extremely enthusiastic and dedicated fan of his beloved Phillies and Eagles.

Anyone who knew Jimmy knew he was a kid at heart and loved playing games and putting smiles on the faces of his great-nephew’s Kyle, Nicholas and David James and of course his little buddy Kyle which makes it only appropriate that in lieu of flowers the family suggests donations for the members Children’s Christmas Party at Swedesburg Fire Co so Jimmy can continue to make kids smile.  Donations can be sent to SVFC c/o Children’s Christmas Party, 310 Jefferson St, Swedesburg PA 19405

Jimmy was a devout member of Sacred Heart Parish and a Memorial Mass will be held at a later date to due current conditions. Arrangements are by The Bernard S. Gutkowski Funeral Home, 610-275-6385
