Obituary for James Thomas Sierzega (1953-2023)
Jim was born on June 15, 1953, in Pottstown, PA, to the late Frank and Stella (Piechota) Sierzega. He attended Parochial school and graduated from Saint Pius X High School in 1971. His love and technical ability with cars led him to a career as the Transportation Department Supervisor at the SE PA Veteran Center where he retired after 38 years of service.
He spent many years on the Drag Racing circuit, and was quite successful with his “Lightening Bug”.
He was a car modeler all of his life, and made many dear friends through his Model Club, Silent Traffic.
A guitarist, Jim’s first love was rock and roll music. He played in bands throughout his life, the one for whom he was most proud was Bad Habit.
A lover of animals, he fed the birds daily, and adopted numerous rescue dogs and cats.
He was stricken with cancer in September of 2022, and despite his determination to fight it vigorously, he lost the battle on July 15, 2023.
He is survived by his wife Monica Ranieri, brother Frank Sierzega, sister Maryann Sierzega Geiger, as well as his beloved dog Wilma, cat, Benny, and turtle Tee Ball.
