Obituary for Joan (Terry) V. Roskos (1923-2020)
Joan (Terry) V. Roskos, age 97, of Swedeland, King of Prussia, died on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Suburban Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Norristown. She was the beloved wife of the late Stephen A. Roskos. She was born in Bournemouth, Dorset, England on June 19, 1923 to the late Captain Herber C. Botley, R. A. and Nellie Beatrice (Southam) Botley. She was educated in Private Schools in England. She served in the Royal Air Force during WWII. She met her husband Steve, who was serving in the U.S. Navy. They were married on February 7, 1945, in the Roman Catholic Cathedral Church of St. Mary and St. Boniface, Plymouth, England. She relocated to the U.S., became a citizen of the United States and resided in Swedeland, since1946. She was a parishioner and active member of Our Mother of Sorrows Slovak Roman Catholic Church. She served at the polls in Swedeland for many years. She was an active member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Swedeland Fire Co. She retired from the Philadelphia National Bank, where she held the position of Teller. She is survived by her son Stephen P. Roskos (Maryann) of Plymouth Twp., 2 grandsons Stephen J. Roskos, N.P. (Jacquiline) and Gregory P. Roskos, 3 great-grandchildren Gabriel, Emma and Christian, a nephew Peter Botley of Manchester, England. She is pre-deceased by her brother Peter.
Relatives and Friends are invited to her Viewing on Monday, December 21, from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at The Bernard S. Gutkowski Funeral Home, 305 Jefferson Street, Swedesburg, Upper Merion Twp., PA 19405, Keith J. Murphy, F.D., 610-275-6385, followed by her Funeral Mass, also on Monday, starting at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 120 Jefferson Street, Swedesburg.
