Obituary for John E. Growman (1933-2022)
John E. Growman, age 88, of Malvern, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June, 1, 2022 at Sunrise of Paoli, where he had lived for the past 3 years. Born in Jefferson, Indiana, John was the son of the late Edward Growman and the late Virginia (nee Bowman) Growman, the loving husband of the late Marilyn Rose Ervin, who passed away in January 2020, the cherished brother of the late Rosemary Growman Jeske and the proud Uncle of Edwin L. Jeske, Julie G. Jorgenson and Rosanne R. Sagraves.
John proudly served our country in The U.S. Army for over 3 years. He was a graduate of Iowa State University, earning his Masters of Science degree in 1974. When John reached the drinking age of 21, it was said that he thoroughly enjoyed a good, cold mug of beer, on occasion. In his working life, he worked for the U.S. Government, Department of Defense, Defense Mapping Agency. After he retired from the Government, John worked at Lockheed Martin for a number of years. He finally retired for good in 2005. After retiring, John loved to play golf and travel, staying at many of his Timeshare Resorts. He was also a member of Optimist International.
A private graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
