Obituary for John “Jack” A. Guziewicz (1940-2022)
John “Jack” A. Guziewicz of Swedesburg, passed away peacefully on his 82nd birthday, October 14, 2022, surrounded by his loving family, at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery. Born in Norristown, “Jack” was the son of the late Ignatius J. and Blanche A. (nee Protasiewicz) Guziewicz, the devoted husband, since October 13, 1962, of the late Jane “Jean” T. (nee Sugalski) Guziewicz, the loving father of Jeanette Guziewicz (Joe Petruska), John “Jas” (Melissa Gledhill) Guziewicz and Jennifer (Dante) Saldutti, the adoring grandfather of JJ and Gabby, who were his pride and joy, the step-grandfather of Nikki (Erik) and Shannon and step-great-grandfather of Jaxon. In addition, “Jack” was predeceased by his sister, the late Carol McCaffrey, and is survived by his many cousins, nieces and nephews.
“Jack” was a graduate of Sacred Heart Grade School and Bishop Kenrick High School, Class of 1958, a member of the Polonia Association and a devout member of Sacred Heart Church. After he graduated, “Jack” worked for several years for Minters Candy Co. and went on to become a line supervisor for Rhorer Pharmaceuticals, working there for 35 years and then in 1999 he began working for Montgomery County as a maintenance engineer, until his retirement in 2012. At Sacred Heart, he was instrumental in starting their Polish Festival, Chairman of the festival committee, Co-Chairman of the 100th anniversary of Sacred Heart committee, a life member of their Holy Name Society and received their Man of the Year Award. “Jack” was also a dedicated life member of Swedesburg Volunteer Fire Company, in addition to being an active firefighter, he served as a bartender, Chairman of their Board of Directors and received the Eternal Flame Award. He was also known for spending quality time with his cherished family, as well as, his time playing softball and his work with the Bridgeport Little League and Boy Scout Troop 352.

Murphy, F.D., www.gutkowskifuneralhome.com, where his viewings will be held on Thursday, October 20, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Friday, October 21, from 8:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Then, also on Friday, to Sacred Heart Church, 120 Jefferson Street, Swedesburg, PA 19405, where his Funeral Mass will be held, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow Mass in St. Augustine Cemetery. The family would appreciate Mass Cards or Memorial Donations to Sacred Heart Church.
