Obituary for John Morenko (1936-2023)

John “Jack” Morenko, age 86, of Plymouth Meeting, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Keystone Care Hospice in Wyndmoor. Born in Edwardsville, PA, “Jack” was the son of the late John Morenko and the late Mary (nee Hudak) Morenko, the devoted husband of Halyna (nee Mykyta) Morenko since April 23, 1977, the loving father of Gregory Morenko (Kelly) of Downingtown and Daniel Morenko (Sindy) of Pottstown, the adoring grandfather of Nina Morenko and Gavin Morenko and the cherished and youngest sibling of Paul, Mary, Margaret, Julia, Kathryn, Dorothy and Evelyn.

Mr. Morenko was born and raised in Edwardsville, and was a graduate of Edwardsville High School, Class of 1954. He continued his education at Wilkes College, earning his Bachelors Degree in 1958 and, after proudly serving our country on a food transport ship in The U.S. Navy in 1959 and 1960, his Masters Degree in Business from Drexel University. “Jack” had a long career as a very knowledgeable and accomplished surgical instrument sale representative, working for George P. Pilling & Son Co. and then Aesculap, Inc. He wanted to retire at age 70, but because of his vast knowledge of the business, the company had him doing special projects until he was 75.

“Jack” was a long time and devout member of Holy Trinity Church in Philadelphia, most recently a member of SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, and was very actively involved with the Greek Catholic Union. He enjoyed playing cards every week, going to the gym frequently, taking a walk and striking up a conversation with people.

Relatives and friends are invited to SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 519 Union Street, Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Friday, March 17, where his viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until his Divine Liturgy begins at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow the Liturgy in SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate Memorial Donations to SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, at the above address, with The Ukrainian Fund written on the memo of the check. Arrangements are by The Bernard S.
