Joseph Bernard O’Neill, Sr., of King of Prussia, passed away peacefully at home on November 5, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was 99 years old. He was born to the late Anna Kelly and late Bernard O’Neill on August 10, 1923 in West Philadelphia and was a proud graduate of St. Thomas More Catholic Boys’ High School, Class of 1940. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years, Edie, who passed away June 10, 2008.
Joseph was a proud veteran who honorably and dutifully served in the United States Army during World War II. He held the rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded two Purple Hearts. After the War, he found employment with the Gerber Company and would loyally stay with them until his retirement.
He married the love of his life, Edie Albright, whom he met while walking the ponies at the Philadelphia Zoo. They moved to King of Prussia and raised two wonderful children, Barbara Wagner and Joseph (Nancy) O’Neill. The proudest positions he ever held were that of husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He took such pride in all of his grandchildren and often found an opportunity to introduce them into conversation with anyone he’d meet.
His legacy and values will live on in his 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
