Obituary for Marianne H. Levinsky (1938-2023)

Marianne H. Levinsky, age 85, affectionately known by many as “Babcie”, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospital in East Norriton. Born in Shenandoah, PA, Marianne was the daughter of the late Joseph Kuras, Sr. and the late Helen (nee Dryslewski) Kuras. She was the devoted wife, since November 9, 1957, of the late Joseph James Levinsky, Sr., the loving mother of Tina Heckler (Harley), Lenore Batchelder (Companion Daniel Dennison) and Joseph J. Levinsky, Jr. (Denise), the proud grandmother of Ralph Heckler, Jennifer Sabo, Lea Scavello, Charles Batchelder, the late Nicole M. Levinsky, Kelly Lilick, Melissa Levinsky, Brooke Heckler and David Warner and the adoring great-grandmother of Morgan Heckler, Mason Heckler, Joey Sabo, Michael Scavello, Jr., Anthony Scavello, Jimmy Scavello, Juliana Scavello, Isaac Batchelder, Gianna Batchelder, Bentley Heuer, Logan Seyfert, Briella Lilick and Harper Lilick. Marianne also leaves behind her sister, Antoinette DeCerio, and her sister-in-law Joyce Kuras, widow of the late Joseph Leonard “Sonny” Kuras.

Marianne, a devout and long time member of Sacred Heart Church was also a graduate of Upper Merion High School, Class of 1956. Always known for her hard work, in the 1960’s, she worked at Minter’s Candy, for 4 or 5 years, and then began her career working for Western Electric, which became AT&T, as a telephone inspector, for the next 27 years, until the company moved to Georgia in the early 1980’s. Marianne was a devoted Catholic and enjoyed her trips to Bayside New York to practice her faith and prayer. She always loved watching and shopping from QVC. She loved her pretty clothes anything with bling would catch her eye and make her smile.  She enjoyed spending time with her family especially all of her grandchildren, who she adored. 

Relatives and friends are invited to Sacred Heart Church 120 Jefferson Street, Swedesburg, PA 19405 on Thursday, August 3, where her viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:20 a.m. and her Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m.Interment will follow Mass in St. Augustine Cemetery.
