Michael A. Spitko Jr., of East Norriton, passed away peacefully on Friday July 23, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 1, 1936 in Tamaqua Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Michael Sr. & Anna (Patora) Spitko, husband of 50 years to the late Mary Spitko, And Virginia (Hicks) Spitko.
Michael served his country proudly by enlisting in the United States Army, upon his honorable discharge he would go on to work for many years as a Bridgeport and Lower Merion Police Officer until his retirement. He was a dedicated member of the Lower Merion Fraternal Order Of Police, and in his spare time he enjoyed listening to country music and traveling with his loving wife whenever he had the opportunity. Michael was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and dear friend to all and he will be missed by many.
In addition to his wife Virginia (Hicks) Spitko, Michael is survived by his children, Michael (Rabbi Jacob Staub) Spitko, and Sharon (Bill) Lawless; One brother, Edward (Margie) Spitko; Three sisters, Patsy (Fran) Palatucci, Dorothy (the late Leonard) Camasso, and Anna Mae (the late Herbert) Simmons; Michael is also survived by his three grandchildren, Jason Lawless, Molly Storti, Billy Lawless; and five great grandchildren; Michael is also survived by Virginia’s children, Robert S. (Lynn) Sandora, Michael (Trisha) Sandora, and Kathleen Zadroga; and her three grandchildren, Kiersten McDonald, Robert Sandora, and Megan O’Connor; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents Michael was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Spitko, and one daughter, Donna Pruski.
Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing for Michael on Thursday July 29, 2021 from 9:30AM-10:30AM at the Gutkowski Funeral Home Inc. 305 Jefferson St, Swedesburg, PA 19405. Mass will follow the viewing at 11:00AM at the Sacred Heart Church, 120 Jefferson St. Swedesburg PA, 19405. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
