Obituary for Philomena “Minnie” Rose Kurcik (1923-2022)
Philomena “Minnie” Rose Kurcik, age 98, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 18, 2022, at ProMedica in King of Prussia. Born in Bridgeport, Minnie was the daughter of the late Antonio and the late Giovanna (nee Manzi) Yacovelli, the devoted wife of the late John A. Kurcik, Sr. for over 54 years and the loving mother of Mary Ann Kurcik and John A. Kurcik, Jr. (Judy). Minnie is also survived by her brother Nicholas Yacovelli, whom she cherished. She was preceded in death by her sisters Viola “Honey” Priest, Concetta “Connie” Lannutti and brothers John, Camille “Gus” and Salvatore Yacovelli.
Minnie was a former member of Our Mother of Sorrows and St. Augustine Churches and was currently a member of Sacred Heart Church. She was the oldest daughter in her family, and due to her mother’s passing at a young age, she helped her father with the cooking, housekeeping and raising her 6 siblings. Minnie attended Upper Merion High School. Minnie excelled at word search puzzles, enjoyed cooking, gardening and staying up to date with current events. She was devoted to her family and was an A-1 mom! She was sharp up to the very end!!
Relatives and friends are invited to Sacred Heart Church, 120 Jefferson Street, Swedesburg, PA 19405, on Monday, January 24, where her viewing will be held starting at 9:30 a.m. and her Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Minnie’s name may be made to Sacred Heart Church. Arrangements are by The Bernard S.
