Obituary for Walter F. Grzywacz (1927-2022)
Walter F. Grzywacz, age 94, of Collegeville and formerly of King of Prussia, passed away at Columbia Cottage at Collegeville, with his family at his side. Born in Plymouth Township, Walter was the son of the late Walter Grzywacz and the late Mary Ann (nee Montowski) Grzywacz, the devoted husband, since September 1953, of the late Helen B. (nee Prusinowski) Grzywacz, who passed in 2005, the loving father of Michael Grzywacz, Diane Grzywacz, Jane ( the late Michael) McCullough, Karen (Mike) Roban, Barbara (Tom) Gilmartin and Joanne (Gregory) Campion, the proud grandfather of Samantha, Kelly, Alexandra, Timothy, Shannon, Marlee, Patrick, Brian, Shaun, Jillian, Amy and Jimmy, the adoring great-grandfather of his six great-grandchildren and the last to pass away of his seven late siblings, Peter, Tom, Joe, John, and Adam Gryzwacz, Mary Kliamovich and Helen Toth.
Walter was educated in Plymouth Township School and, after leaving high school, proudly joined The U.S. Navy, serving our country from 1945 until 1948, earning the rank of Aviation Machinist’s Mate Third Class and receiving the World War II Victory Medal. After his time in the service, Walter worked as a Liquid Oxygen Plant Operator for Chemetron Corporation in Conshohocken for over 33 years and then for AirCo in King of Prussia for another 10 years. Finally, he decided to just work part-time as a school bus driver for Upper Merion School District. Walter was a devout member of Sacred Heart Church for over 50 years and enjoyed playing cards, going to the casinos, taking long walks and happily spending many days watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Relatives and Friends are invited to Sacred Heart Church, 120 Jefferson Street, Swedesburg, Upper Merion Twp., PA 19405, on Tuesday, August 9, where Walter’s viewing will be held, starting at 9:30 a.m. until 10:20 a.m., and his Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, with Military Honors.
