Obituary for Walter A. Kilkuskie, Sr. (1926-2021)

Walter A. Kilkuskie, Sr., age 95, of Bridgeport, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Seasons Hospice in Phoenixville. Born in Mahanoy City, Walter was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (nee Anusewicz) Kulakowski, the devoted husband of the late Helen M. (nee Sadak) Kilkuskie, the loving father of Jeanne Todor (the late George) of Southport, NC, Walter A. Kilkuskie, Jr. (Audri) of Spring Hill, FL, Linda Light of West Norriton, Sharon Erskine (Steve) of Collegeville and the late Edward A. Kilkuskie, the proud grandfather of Jennefer, Jason, April, Walter III, John (Bud), Ryan, Kristen and Trisha. Mr. Kilkuskie also leaves behind his 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Kilkuskie proudly served our country during WWII in the U. S. Navy as a gunner on the USS LST 1091 in the Pacific. He also received the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal. After returning to the states, he graduated from Mahanoy City High School, Class of 1945. He went on to become a freight handler for Tose Trucking Co, working there from 1948 until retiring in 1986. He was a long time and devout member of Sacred Heart Church and a life member of their Holy Name Society. He loved all sports and playing the slots, as well as spending time reading newspapers cover to cover, doing crossword, anagram and jigsaw puzzles, working in his garden and collecting coins and stamps.

Relatives and friends are invited on Wednesday, October 13, to his viewing from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. and his Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 120 Jefferson Street, Swedesburg, Upper Merion Twp., PA 19405. Interment after Mass will be in St. Augustine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated for Sacred Heart Church. Arrangements are by  Bernard S.
